Lost Key Collective, a grassroots nonprofit literary organization

Lost Keys Festival Closing Ceremony

Lost Keys Collective was created to address the dearth of literary events in Macon while strengthening the local writing community. Beginning with the Lost Keys Literary Festival, this nonprofit initiative developed year-round programming and conducted community outreach to further the art of literature.

Throughout our 2.5 year run, I managed the collective’s marketing, planned events, wrote grants, organized fundraisers, and fostered community partnerships. I primarily used media relations to generate buzz and funding.

I used my existing media connections gained as a marketing specialist with the Douglass Theatre (where my PR expertise raised funds for the Douglass Goes Digital! campaign), to promote Lost Keys Collective and its programming.

The Lost Keys Collective created two festivals, organized a poetry pop-up garden,  developed a resume writing workshop, hosted a People’s State of the Union event, coordinated a book drive, held annual fundraisers for Crisis Line and Safe House of Central Georgia, provided writing curriculum for disadvantaged youth, and partnered with Storytellers Macon to host a weekly event to give everyone in the community the power to tell their stories. (They are now an amazing nonprofit with its own mission and goals!)

Although the Lost Keys Collective disbanded due to new opportunities for myself and the other two founders, it remains on the back burner, ready to be reignited at any moment.
